BBBB XXIV Saturday June 7th -White Mountain - Moderate - This run is now full.

Hey Guys, too many choices... what GMRS radio do you suggest?
I like my Midland MXT575 because it allows you to remotely mount main unit because all the controls & speaker / mic are on the handset.
A standard FRS handheld will work in a pinch 🤠

I would suggest starting out with an inexpensive hand held. They are plenty good enough for staying in communication while on the run and don’t require a huge investment. If you want to keep it super simple and just want to stick with GMRS, then something like the Baofeng GM15 Pro is a good options. You can get a pair of them for about $50 on Amazon. If you’re willing to do a little programming, and want something that can do both 2-meter and GRMS then something like the Baofeng 5RM or similar might work. Note that if there are more than one of you in the Bronco, I would invest in a pair so guys can communicate if you’re not both in the Bronco at the same time. For example if one of you is driving and one is spotting.

Think it can be pulled off with a 78, no traction device, no lift?
Shouldn't be too much of a problem and if it is we'll work through it with the right attitude. Most of the trail is really easy. There might be 1 or 2 spots where we might have to work through something. Expect some pinstriping 🤠
