So, planning this first run. I'll take point for this one, but I'd like some input on where, when, and how. I'm thinking of a weekend trip for this first run; meet up Friday evening somewhere and be at the end of the route by noonish Sunday. With some experience the following trips can/will be...
I see this has been moved, I wasn't sure where this would get the most views.
At several different times over last weekend's Calico run the idea of a point to point run was brought up. This is the usual type of run that I go on, so that probably was why I was included in those conversations...
Not sure where to put this. Are there now established frequencies, either 2M or GMRS, used on trail runs, etc?
Pondering this for the upcoming Calico run.
Let's kick this one off and get it going. Per Dusty's post (https://socalbroncos.com/forum/threads/so-cal-broncos-calico-2024.699/post-4560) in: https://socalbroncos.com/forum/threads/so-cal-broncos-calico-2024.699/ this will be MLK weekend, Jan. 17-19 (20 if you get MLK day off), '25

Those who know about these parts also know that they've been out of production for a long time. They're hard to find and expensive when you do find some. Yet for older rigs they're perfect for attaching a roof rack or an RTT. I'm looking at making a short production run of some clones made in...
These heads were torqued onto a short block and never run. Never had an intake bolted to them.

Dusty & Steffie's 4k mile trip pics thread got me to thinking about posting some pics from my and our various trips, something that I don't tend to mention or talk about much. These are pics that my wife Denise took, only a very few are mine. I'll try to keep them interesting and inspiring, I...
Ran into the promoter of this event last night: https://thethrowdowncornholetournament.com/ The mech. fuel pump in his new to him EB appeared to have quit working. I stopped to see if I could help, but they had it under control. Of course while I was there I pimped the BBBB and he told me that...
The beams were done by someone fairly skilled but they missed on the PS beam's camber. Using the largest angle adjuster gets it almost close to spec. These would be good beams for a wahoo machine that doesn't see long drives on pavement or maybe a HS kid's truck. I did make long drives on...
This could be fun, watching all of the stunt drivers. Just stay the heck out of their way!!!

If going on a run is intimidating (it should NOT be, but I know how it can be) then I'll make a suggestion, take a course on driving off pavement. My wife was new to driving off pavement and we didn't jive in the instructor/student roles so I got her a class with https://www.4x4training.com/...
I've never made this run during BBBB or otherwise, so I'm looking for local knowledge. OnX shows an option that takes you clear down to the desert floor. Does that actually exist and is it legal/viable/passable?
Already pinged the old list about this.
Thanks!!
The obvious is the Mojave Road (kinda BT, DT myself), but there are many other possibilities that don't even have to leave the State or travel much on pavement. I'll offer to lead, tell me where we're going.
