I just got these as a gift. Are they any good and will they work with the ones most of you use? Or should I try and return them and get different ones? If so can you provide a link?
Sonny that’s a good but cheap ham radio. Looks like an older model that can transmit on all frequencies. One could transmit on no ham radio frequencies for example some of those family radios or race frequencies.
What you need to do is throw away the antenna it came with and get any other one.
Authentic Genuine Nagoya NA-771 15.6-Inch Whip VHF/UHF (144/430Mhz) Antenna SMA-Female for BTECH and BaoFeng Radios https://a.co/d/a9kVo3D
Looking through the box, it came with (02) antennas. Is the longer one like the one you suggested or should I still purchase the one you suggested?
These were $50 for the pair. Would you recommend paying a little more for better ones or just keep these and use them. I just wanted to be able to hear/communicate with the group when I get to go out with everyone (make sure no one is talking about me or making fun of me.....just kidding).

Next SCB event I'm at I'll bring my Bluetooth programmer and slam in memory channels for you if you want. I load the GMRS channels into mine, matching the GMRS number so memory 1 == GMRS 1 and so forth. My own frequencies I start at 51.
I’ve been on two runs, both times we used HAM VHF frequencies (~144Mhz). I just like programming my Baofeng for GMRS to extend its capabilities. I recently did the MARS mod to my Yaesu in the rig to achieve the same thing.
If you use Chirp I have uploaded a file you can use to load the GRMS and the freqs the SoCal Broncos use. Check the file section on here if your interested.
