Steering Failures...

My '21 First Edition is at the dealer (was looking forward to the bash!), the rack and pinion are shot, its a shame but have any of you had similar failures with the gen6 Bronco parts? I see nothing but great aftermarket replacements, I guess it wasn't thought out all the way when they launched the new gen. I beleive they have fixed it?

There is now a stronger steering rack that was introduced with the '23 Wildtrak as part of the HOSS 3.0 package but it's now included on all Sasquatch Broncos. It is also available aftermarket, through Ford Performance as their "Severe Duty Steering Rack".

Yes the original steering racks are kind of weak. I bought one of the Severe Duty Steering Racks from Ford Performance but have not put it in yet. This weekend at Big Bear Bronco Bash I started to feel some play in my stock rack so I'll be jumping on that install soon.

For those looking for it, here's a link to that Ford Performance rack. https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-3200-WT

Dusty, so my 23 base with Sasquatch did get the upgraded HOSS 3.0 steering rack? Good to know, I knew Ford upgraded the racks on the upper trims, but thought the base and lower got the previous HOSS rack as their upgrades. Basically, I thought I got an upgraded rack from the '21s & '22s, but I didn't realized I got the new HOSS 3.0, that's great! I guess it really paid off for me to wait the extra 14 months for my truck.

Thanks for the info.

Note: After posting I think I remembered that the HOSS 3.0 rack was included, maybe it was how it was introduced the previous year that I'm thinking about? It's hard to believe it was about three years ago that I was reading about upcoming changes like that and my head hurts just thinking about back then. Haha.

If I remember correctly, the timeline for HOSS 3.0 was as follows:

'22 - Introduced as an option for Wildtrak only
'23 - Standard on Wildtrak only
'24 - Standard on Wildtrak, Badlands, and any SAS equipped Bronco.

But, I'm old, and my memory isn't what it used to be...

Just got it back from the dealership, the manager "approved" the service and covered it under warranty. The service manager said it was a toss up if they covered it or not due to the fact that I have aftermarket suspension (Zone Off Road). Don't know if they upgraded the rack and pinion to the HOSS caliber rack, but it was all "gratis" on my side. The dealer was excited to see their first ever "First Edition" hit their garage.
