The obvious is the Mojave Road (kinda BT, DT myself), but there are many other possibilities that don't even have to leave the State or travel much on pavement. I'll offer to lead, tell me where we're going.

I'm currently building up my rig to be able to tackle trips like this. Hopefully by fall I'll be ready and would love to plan something.

What I've found is that if you can comfortably and reliably DD the vehicle with no attention other than fuel for a month, you can take it pretty much anywhere that you want to go within reason. Although if you want to go Overland on Sledgehammer it will take a considerably higher level approach.

I try to keep these trips to under 100 miles/day because even that all in dirt can be a long day. Some of the OG here may recall a day trip we did some years ago from Mule Canyon (Calico) over to Inscription Canyon, the Husky Monument, Black Cyn., and Rainbow Cyn. That was slightly over 100 all dirt miles and it was an all day event. For some it was too long a day.

A suggested route: https://www.gaiagps.com/datasummary...7-a04c-3f72c95484f4/?layer=GaiaTopoRasterFeet ~260 miles, so a hard two days worth of driving or an easy 3 days. Make it 4 if you want to take many side trips (like Saratoga Springs, Racetrack, Dante's View, Tour Scotty's Castle (if open), etc.).

This all pretty much started for me in '08 when we ran a dirt road diagonal thru Death Valley from Big Pine and then East to the Cima Road/I-15 junction. Cut across on pavement to the Avi Casino at the River and then came West on the MR. That was a week long trip and it wasn't long enough to thoroughly see everything. The core of that group and others have done a week's trip every year since then. Mostly in Nevada, but some KA as well.

There was some discussion in days of yore about doing the Mojave Road with off-road trailers (Green, Bautista, you out there?). If I never do the section from Kelso-Cima Rd. to the mailbox again, it will be too soon, but the MR is an option.

Toss out some places or areas of interest in visiting. What's of interest?

OK, so how about a trip from Start/Finish on Camp Rock Rd. (Lucerne Valley for those not familiar) to Box Cyn., Pisgah Crater, the Desert Megaphone, Afton Cyn, (including Spooky and the Boxcars, of course!) the Crucifixion Bushes, Bonnie Keebler Harris' grave (if we can find it), Coyote Dry Lake and the 'Tank Road', the Original U.S. Borax Mine, Tin Can Alley, and finishing up at the traditional SCEB Mule Cyn camp spot?

My route builder says that's ~130 miles of nearly all dirt. I'd call it a two day trip. Who's in, and when?

Right now I would like day trips to feel my truck out and see what I’d involved brand new to this don’t even know we’re one trail is like a virgin first time
