If you're not familiar with this run, here's a few tips for those going with me on Friday or with Mark on Saturday.
* Plan for a full day of fun. This is a nice easy run. There may be a couple of spots to engage 4wd, but t's really a nice drive through some beautiful country at a slow/medium pace. Our final destination will be Pappy & Harriet's. We can decide how long we want to stay. Usually around 60-90 min.
* We'll hit dirt and Baldwin Lake Rd & Vale Drive (MAP) then Burns Canyon Rd for the majority of the route.
* Have enough fuel for at least 100 mile range. The planned round trip on dirt is over 65 miles with no fuel stops available (unless your carrying), and if you want to return on your own via paved road to Lucerne Valley on the 247/18 it will be farther but there's fuel in Lucerne.
* The Big Bear temps will be in the low 80s but it's forecast to be close to 100 on both days in Pioneertown, so bring plenty of water and maybe a hat for trail stops.
* Bring some snacks and also a lunch if you don't plan on eating at Pappy & Harriet's.
* Bring a VHF radio (mobile or handheld) with a frequency range of 136–174 MHz if you have one. I have some handhelds I can loan out on Friday's run if you don't.
* Because the trail is easy we don't need to air down, but 20-25lbs makes for a more comfortable ride so we'll be stopping shortly after we hit dirt for those who want to.
* Meet at 8am on your run day in the little lot at the corner of Brownie Lane and Moonridge Rd: Google Map Link
