Hi New Here

KVBadlands

Small Member
New to the group and excited to be part of the community!
My name is Khan and my wife and I live in Silverlake, LA.
Purchased my "gently used" 2021 Badlands Sasquatch recently and I'm looking forward to taking her out on some light trails and have some fun. Taken her up in the San Bernardino Mountains a few times this year in the rain and snow and she handled amazingly well.
Looking forward to the Big Bear Bronco Bash and meeting other SoCal Bronco owners.

I'm a newbie too. My 2021 First Edition was "gently used" as well. Yours is looking pretty sweet from that photo. I'll see you up at the Bash!

Welcome aboard looking forward to meeting y’all.

I signed up for Saturday and may also do Sunday. Late on getting accomodations so it might be a drive after the potluck but we may stay depending on how much fun we end up having or how tired we will be! Looking forward to coming to our 1ST Bronco Bash and meeting the group and taking her out on some runs.
Got some of the recommended gear and some comms/radios. Hope to get all dialed in!! Thanks for putting on the show!
Cheers

@KVBadlands Just out of curiosity, what comms/radio did you go for? I've read the radio threads here a dozen times and did some YouTubin' as well and I still can't make heads or tails of it. I'm a newbie as well and that's one of the last things I can't figure out.

Get this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z52HP10/
For me, it says I can order it this morning and get it this afternoon. I would guess wherever you are in Southern California you would have it within one day, definitely in time for the Bash. I have 3 of these and they are great radios. They can do both HAM/Race/Business frequencies and also GMRS channels. You'd need to program in the actual frequencies for GMRS. @BadSquatch has a download in the Files section that has all of them in a convenient spreadsheet along with the usual So Cal Broncos and desert racing frequencies that you can either key in by hand or program with a cable and CHIRP.

BTW I also recommend getting the long antenna for it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KC4PWQQ/
And if you want to mess with programming it from your computer (not necessary but nice to be able to do), you'll need this cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HUB0ONK/ and to download CHIRP.

I'm also bringing my laptop with me to BBBB so if you have one of the Baofeng hand held I can use CHiRP to load all of that for you. I'll be at BBBB Thurs - Sunday.

Perfect! It’ll be here tomorrow. I’ll read the manual cover to cover when I get it this week but I think I speak for a lot of the new guys on this thread when I say that any in-person assistance with setting these up would be greatly appreciated. Or even a YouTube video from you in the future on specifically how to set them up for BBBB events for beginners would be rad. We’re headin’ up Friday morning. See ya’ then! Thanks guys.

Either myself or @BadSquatch can program it for you. I think @12-Pack Jeff usually brings his laptop and cable too.

would you mind meeting up with us on Thursday also? we’ve got 4 of these and can’t seem to get them to talk to each other or others and have no idea what I’m doing wrong.
