Hard Braking With Rear Detroit Locker

I have a Detroit in the rear and earlier today I had to do a hard brake while veering right at about 30-40 mph. All was well until halfway through the ordeal there was a loud bang in the rear. Didn’t really feel anything hop or jostle, just a loud ass bang almost like someone rear ended me. Pulled over and everything looked/felt normal and driving the rest of way home felt business as usual and felt like the locker was still doing it’s regular behavior when making a sharp turn out of a parking lot. Is this a byproduct of having a locker when rear wheels are close to locking up, but engaged in a turn on pavement? Have had the locker in there for years and have the normal pop that occurs once in a while on pavement, but never a bang. I thought something broke by the volume of the noise, but so far all seems ok.

Yeah, I had one in my old Jeep and it would make that noise and I thought that something catastrophic had happened the first few times I heard it. But it's "normal" if you want to call that noise "normal".
