BBBBXXIV - Sunday Rowe-Bogner Memorial Run

Sir,I was not sure if I would be able to stay and do the Sunday Memorial run but now I know I can. I saw a spot was still open, if it is I would like to join.

There might be a seat open with someone you could ask.

This So Cal Broncos Memorial Run will honor our fallen brothers USMC Major Alan Rowe, who was KIA in Iraq in 2004, and Danny Bogner, US Army Vietnam Vet, who passed away last year. Danny was one of the key movers in creating the Alan Rowe Monument on Heartbreak Ridge back in 2005, and proudly led the Alan Rowe Memorial Run every year since then. This year we are honored to add Danny's monument to this cherished place on Heartbreak Ridge and pay our respects to both heroes while enjoying a challenging run for the last day of Big Bear Bronco Bash XXIV.
  • DATE & TIME: Sunday, June 8, 9:00 AM (departure time, please arrive early)
  • TRAIL RATING: Medium/Hard (last year the trail was harder than we expected, it could be worse this year)
  • TRAILS: 2N01 Broom Flats to 2N61Y Round Valley to Heartbreak Ridge
  • STAGING LOCATION: VONS supermarket parking lot on Big Bear Blvd. Please use the area farthest from storefronts. Google Maps LINK
  • COMMS: Race/ham frequency 146.535 (SCB-GEN on our frequency list - see here)
Last year the trail was a bit more technical than we expected, with deterioration from last winter's storms. This year it could be slightly easier (beaten down from use), harder, or about the same. Just be prepared for anything from a cakewalk to a moderately technical trail. I would suggest minimum 33's and one locker, and rocker protection on 4-door 6G's or short/no lift. A group of us are heading up on Memorial Day so I'll update this with current trail conditions right before the Bash.
