Didn't see anything about Gold Mountain on Saturday... I am coming up for the day if anyone wants to join.. it's been a couple years since I've done this trail so not sure if it's changed much..if so maybe someone can update condition ..plan on leaving from the Mormon Church at North Shore (18) and Paradise at 9am and 10 minutes or so at trail if anyone hasn't airdown then heading over toward Holcom Valley and one of the forestry roads back to the lake .. last time I did it I would say medium with a couple obstacles that could be a bit tougher..

Thanks for leading a run! Gold Mountain is about the same as always. It gets a little more torn up each year in the usual spots but not too bad. Couple spots the open diff guys might need a tug (or more skinny pedal).

Also, if you haven't been there for a while, the FS has made the gatekeeper at the beginning to the tail mandatory by gating off the way around it. They also poured some cement between the rocks, so it's probably a little easier than you remember it but it will give pause to those with small tires and open diffs.

Copy that.. I remember there was a bypass worn in last time I did it.. hopefully it won't be a problem

That's probably the bypass they gated off. I think that the idea here is to weed out folks at the beginning who have little chance of completing the trail or breaking trying. If you want a preview check out this YouTube video:

I wasn't expecting it right at the start ..I thought you were talking about the last one they blocked with a tree.. looks about like I remember. Hopefully a few can join in .. I know it was a little last minute but now they can look at the video you posted and have a good idea about the trail .. thanks

Chris,

I ran part of this from top to bottom recently with a Taco buddy. It was definitely gnarly but largely that was due to having no spotter.

I’d definitely be down to run it on Saturday with you!

Chris, I’d like to join you on the Saturday Gild Mountain run. Thanks, Jim Cairns.

I’m not sure if they are planning on leading a run in the morning or just doing their rig check. They have posted outside the gate before and spoke with people about what gear etc they are carrying. Kinda like an information/safety station.
