Anyone Running an EGR Delete Kit on Their Bronco?

Hey everyone,

Curious if anyone here has installed an EGR delete kit on their Bronco (especially the older models with diesel swaps or custom builds).

I’ve been looking into it for a diesel-powered off-road rig and wondering if it’s worth it for performance, reliability, or cooler temps on trail runs.

Any issues with CELs, emissions checks here in CA, or drivability?

I'm not trying to skirt laws, just want to hear real-world feedback from fellow Bronco builders.

Let me know your setup and experience—appreciate any advice before I commit.

thanks in advance for any help

I deleted EGR on my 5.8l. It was pretty simple with the Lightning lower intake, simply threaded the exhaust gas port in the middle of the intake runners and screwed a pipe plug into it, and plugged the ports on the corners of the heads. On a 5.0/5.8 you then just ditch the EGR spacer and fab up a new, less bulky sheet metal spacer with bracket to hold the throttle cable. You also have to do some minor diode work in the engine harness to fool the computer that it's no longer there, but I don't recall the details. I've no clue about the work involved for any other engines, but if your Bronco is smog-exempt by all means go for it.
