Big Bear Bronco Bash XXV

Added to Calendar: 06/11/26, 06/12/26, 06/13/26, 06/14/26

I'm going to lead a couple runs this year, Gold Mountain on Thursday, and a medium type multi trail run through Holcomb Valley Saturday. Where is the best place to post the run threads?

Same forum this thread is in, the regular BBBB Forum. I archived all the old stuff so everything is current. Feel free to check out my Notes for Run Leaders post if you need any pointers, but I know you're already a veteran at this.

I am totally new to this and would love to join, How do I even start? I am in the central Valley area here in northern Ca. I would like to come up for Saturday and Sunday. I need easy trails as this willl be my first time taking the bronco on a trail. Any and all adice wnated, hotels recommendations and all.

Hello and welcome to So Cal Broncos! I think the most important thing to know about BBBB is that it is different than most other organized events in that it is...well...not organized. It's mostly just a date on the calendar that Bronco enthusiasts converge on Big Bear to hit the trails. So there's no on-site information kiosk or event organizers to point you in the right direction. It mostly boils down to showing up with either a pre-arranged plan on how to enjoy the weekend, or a willingness to just show up and "get in where you fit in." That said, we do try to make some useful information available to those who have never been to BBBB before. You can get the basic information HERE. After that, join in the discussions here on the forum, where some of the runs that folks have volunteered to lead and welcome whoever wants to join them, have been posted. You can ask questions in any of those threads or start a new thread of your own with any specific questions. Or you can ask them here in this thread if you prefer. Please note that we do have several Facebook groups where discussions are also taking place, so what you see here isn't necessarily the sum total of the talks happening among those who are attending. But this is your best place to start. So go through the threads in the BBBB section here on the forum and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

Roughly where in NorCA? Chico State grad here.

I would say that given the date that you're going to want to find lodging pronto. As-in TODAY. I would expect that unless they have a cancellation that the Majestic Moose, the Grey Squirrel, and the Golden Bear lodges are all booked solid. Finding someplace close to the Moose will be to your advantage, but it isn't absolutely necessary.

The mild runs (scroll down Dusty's "Here" link) are very scenic and they do get "ringers" from time to time. Folks who just want an easy trail for the day who are more usually found running the harder trails. Likely because the flabongo by-passed them not often enough the night before..... don't worry about getting in over your head.

Re: the Saturday afternoon - evening event at the Moose, my advice is just to wade in and immerse yourself in the shenanigans. By the end of the night you'll have met too many to keep their names all straight.

Also, I wasn't planning to be there on Sat. or Sunday due t a family commitment, but that got moved, so I would be there for both those days. If there's interest I can plan an "easy" run for Sat. and I'm going to plan a "down the mountain" run on Sunday for those of us who want a LAST bit of dirt before heading back to the real world. I'm going to have to figure out what trails on that side of the mountain are going to be open since it was impacted pretty hard by fires the last few years. I should have it figured out here shortly since we are getting close!!
