BBBBXXIII - Friday Clark's Grade (Easy)

Name is Kevin Giesy. Also signed up for Sat (Easy) run.

Will be coming up in morning from Ramona so don't want to be late.

Will this thread be monitored up to staging time for means of communication?

You' call set Kevin. I added your name to the list. As for communications, we will talk about that at the drivers meeting. But most likely, it will be GMRS unless everyone has 2-meter, then we will use one of the SCB freqs. because there's less traffic/interference there.

I'll be leading a run on Friday of Big Bear Bronco Bash, and invite anyone who's interested to join me.
  • DATE & TIME: Friday, June 7, 9:00 AM
  • TRAIL RATING: Easy
  • TRAILS: Mill Creek (2N10) and Clark's Grade (1N54) among others
  • STAGING LOCATION: 630 Knickerbocker Rd. (public parking lot) Click here for Google maps link
  • COMMS: TBD depending on what most of the participants have, but I suspect it will be GMRS
A beautiful descent into the vast Santa Ana River Gorge to the south of Big Bear via Clark’s Grade, FS road 1N54. This trail features wide open vistas, some steep sections with switch-backs, and narrow shelf roads. Once we reach the bottom, after airing back up, it's a highway run back up into Big Bear in plenty of time for the evening's shenanigans at BBBB HQ.

We will stage at the public parking lot located at 630 Knickerbocker Rd. Please be there at or before the starting time above gassed up and ready to roll.

Here's a link to OnX showing the route including the staging location and all the turns. https://webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/share/content?share_id=01HZ38KYNF2SJYMYRV1CCBQ1B7

What you need to bring:
  • HAM/GRMS Radio (we will decide what freqency/channel we will use at the drivers meeting)
  • GPS Reader of some type (we'll communicate files in GPX)
  • 1 full size spare
  • Water & Food/Snacks (we shouldn't be on the trail much past lunch, but you might want a snack along just in case)
  • Basic tools and recovery gear (if you don't have these, there are some good thread on this forum talking about what to get. Since this is an easy trail, your SHOULDN'T need them)

Would like to join too! We’re new to the area and first timers. Thanks! Todd Beach

Joerg,

I can't make it Friday before the afternoon, but it looks like you have a great group!
Enjoy the ride!

Wondered if we could still join you on this run. We enjoyed the Thursday morning run and are looking for Friday. Either way see you Thursday afternoon. Jeff and Jeanne
