Removing the window frames?

OK so what is the downside to removing the window frame? I don't love the look. And this is not a show room Bronco.

the only thing i can think of is the window falling out?

I don't see any pics of this done... anyone have any thoughts on it?

Quite a few of us have done it. We call them "trail doors". Cut off the window frames (or unbolt them if they're the 66-67, I believe), remove the window, wind-wing and roll-up mechanism, then weld in a strip of sheet metal over the cap and smooth it out. The trail doors end up being way lighter as a bonus.

BTW if you're thinking of removing the frame but keeping the window, I think you're going to run into a lot of problems trying to do that. If you want to be able to switch between top-on and topless without window frames, best to find a second set of doors and turn them into trail doors.
