FWIW I like to finish up by noon or early afternoon to allow daylight driving to get back to home.
At this point I'm thinking that we run with the 4 legs posted above.
There's a Mobil station & pizza place (http://www.fivedollarpizzaplace.com/) on 247/Old Woman Springs Rd. (282 Old Woman...
How about the those you lurking? Does any particular weekend work better? I am cleared for Mar 15-16 and can be at the rallying point by sometime the eve of Mar 14. Now that SWMBO has blessed it I can change it, but it's better if I don't.
With OnX I've no idea why it does whatever it does.
We can run those or we can scrap those and build something else, or we can use all or part of those. I was just throwing something up on the wall to have something to point at and talk about.
I was hoping to hold this first one to just a...
Mostly to kick-start this I'm going to propose this sequence of routes. They start at the Integratron and end at Afton Cyn Rd. & I-15. The route does have pavement in the mix. The first day is about 70 miles and the second day is about 54 miles.
If we cut off the Desert Megaphone and Afton then...
It's just New Age-y stuff. Crystals, magic, magnetic anomalies, extraterrestrials, and what-not. LOL! People are strange, but sometimes they do or make cool things. Not that you can get a good look at it from the fence, but a wood building built with no metal fasteners in it is rather...
I had to find the OnX settings that showed those route numbers.
We don't really have a route, yet. Feb 28th is probably too soon. The Mar 14 date looks more promising to me. I've not been paying attention, when is ETDS? I know it's the weekend before, but that doesn't mean anything to me.
I don't understand, in both OnX (where the route was created) and in Gaia the route starts and ends at two different places on CA62. Those coords in both put a marker on CA62 near the end point, but not on it.
What does "1947" reference?
Having trouble finding the Doberman Mine, have you got some coords?
Sample route attached. Should be able to open it in google maps and any GPS software.

That long, straight section of Old Dale from the pavement corner inside the NP NEN to the mtns has been washboard misery as far back as I can recall. Was last there in '08, so it [EDIT: the road] might have changed a little since then but I doubt it.
Something to keep in mind is that the NP's...
I'm sure that some of the overloaded crowd have some set routes, but I've no idea what they might be. I have various projects that I've been working on, but not anything designed to be an introductory, 2 day trip.
The other day I was playing around with OnX to see how it differed from Gaia...
To run the MT at a reasonable pace it needs to have 3 days set aside for it. Likely won't use all of all three days, but the only time that I've run it in two or less I was with only one other rig and it is a serious pre-runner. I would suggest that the MT be the second or third such trip...
So, planning this first run. I'll take point for this one, but I'd like some input on where, when, and how. I'm thinking of a weekend trip for this first run; meet up Friday evening somewhere and be at the end of the route by noonish Sunday. With some experience the following trips can/will be...
For those who are interested in the planning of the route here's a not so small rabbit hole to use for looking up interesting places: https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/california#map and the books that I've mentioned...
