CANCELED: SCEB Inaugural Point to Point (aka "Overland") Run planning

I don't understand, in both OnX (where the route was created) and in Gaia the route starts and ends at two different places on CA62. Those coords in both put a marker on CA62 near the end point, but not on it. What does "1947" reference?

Having trouble finding the Doberman Mine, have you got some coords? Sample route attached. Should be able to open it in google maps and any GPS software. GPX viewer

CANCELED: SCEB Inaugural Point to Point (aka "Overland") Run planning

That long, straight section of Old Dale from the pavement corner inside the NP NEN to the mtns has been washboard misery as far back as I can recall. Was last there in '08, so it [EDIT: the road] might have changed a little since then but I doubt it. Something to keep in mind is that the NP's...

CANCELED: SCEB Inaugural Point to Point (aka "Overland") Run planning

I'm sure that some of the overloaded crowd have some set routes, but I've no idea what they might be. I have various projects that I've been working on, but not anything designed to be an introductory, 2 day trip. The other day I was playing around with OnX to see how it differed from Gaia...

CANCELED: SCEB Inaugural Point to Point (aka "Overland") Run planning

To run the MT at a reasonable pace it needs to have 3 days set aside for it. Likely won't use all of all three days, but the only time that I've run it in two or less I was with only one other rig and it is a serious pre-runner. I would suggest that the MT be the second or third such trip...

CANCELED: SCEB Inaugural Point to Point (aka "Overland") Run planning

So, planning this first run. I'll take point for this one, but I'd like some input on where, when, and how. I'm thinking of a weekend trip for this first run; meet up Friday evening somewhere and be at the end of the route by noonish Sunday. With some experience the following trips can/will be...

    Point to point run interest?

For those who are interested in the planning of the route here's a not so small rabbit hole to use for looking up interesting places: https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/california#map and the books that I've mentioned...

I doubt that anyone would fault your priorities. There's other trips and always next year.

    Point to point run interest?

I see this has been moved, I wasn't sure where this would get the most views. At several different times over last weekend's Calico run the idea of a point to point run was brought up. This is the usual type of run that I go on, so that probably was why I was included in those conversations...

Heading out tomorrow o'dark thirty and since my fone doesn't do apps I thought that I would say that if you're planning on one of my trips that we'll be forming up at the very south end of the camp in Mule Canyon with the goal of heading out at 9:00. For Saturday I suggest that you have a good...

Got to wondering about a camp fire given that it is going to get cold at night. Looked up the BLM's Barstow Field office (https://www.blm.gov/programs/public-safety-and-fire/fire-and-aviation/regional-info/california/fire-restrictions#NCAL) and found this: Current restrictions in place...

Cool! Was wondering if the PM that I got was the only interest. I'll have them with me in Mule Cyn. I expect to get there mid-morning Friday. I do the same thing, always have a couple of them in the truck, just in case.

I have 3 boxes (file type boxes, not the usual cases) of MRE's and partial MRE's that I can bring to Calico if there is interest. We'd just like them to go to someone who will use them, Free!
