The Palm Borate Company was one of the last commercial mining operations in the eastern Calico Mountains, operating for just 10 days before collapsing along with the price of borate minerals, in 1907. Located in an unnamed canyon immediately southwest of Sunrise Canyon, the operation was notable for it's gravity railroad or ore tram, which included a short tunnel and a steel trestle, near its southern terminus at the mill site.
