So Cal Broncos Calico 2024

Added to Calendar: 01/12/24, 01/13/24, 01/14/24, 01/15/24

Will the dates be the same for 2025? I really wanna hit this with the group. I tried the facebook link but nothing pops up.
Its January 17-19 (MLK weekend). Camping in Mule Canyon or wherever you prefer. A few of us with big motorhomes are staying a the KOA nearby. RVs can make it up into Mule Canyon but I decided a few years ago to stop subjecting my poor old girl to such abuse. Some camp at the ghost town campground, some stay in nearby motels (there's one in Yermo, very close by), but most camp up in the canyon. Wherever you stay, the camp spot in Mule Canyon is the center of activity both for gathering in the morning and drinking beer and telling lies around the campfire until the wee hours. The camp should be located just past the confluence of Phillips Canyon and Mule Canyon, a place known to some as Camp Rock. Don't expect any hand holding or tour guiding or schedules or anything like that. Just show up early enough in the morning that you can introduce yourself and figure out who to tag along with as there will probably be several groups heading to different difficulty of trails. Most of the guys there will be in well-built Early Broncos and hitting the tougher trails. You're welcome to tag along with them but don't expect graded fire roads LOL.

Sounds awesome! So there will be a Friday 1/17 run? I’ll def make it out for Friday and I will try to get Saturday 1/18 off. This way I can hit a run Friday, camp and hit a Saturday run as well!

Yeah there will be guys heading out to the trails each of those days. It is highly suggested that you camp over night and get to know the guys (and gals).

We stayed at the Calico Campground last year and plan to stay there again. Electric hook-up only, but there are bathroom/shower houses there as well if you need them. It's an easy walk (or drive) to the ghost town from there, where the entrance fee is included and there a couple of watering holes in the ghost town! The spots are easy to maneuver into with our 36' rig. It's a short drive to Burns Canyon for the campfire stories. See you there!

What, that was just a couple a years ago! We're not old! We're not! We're not! We're not!
LOL

I need to look at the home calendar, make sure that I haven't been conscripted for something that I don't know about, but I'm reasonably sure that I'm clear.

Think we're due for another Scenic run out there, some obstacles to get the juices flowing, but not Doran or Odessa Cyn's, and not another 100 mile day?
I think we need a new thread.

The other day I posted this pic on the SCB Facebook group, from Flash II, during one of those 100-mile trips :)

We went all the way to the Husky monument that day. Some of our route from that day has since been gobbled up by Fort Irwin.
