Blue the Bronco Build

BadSquatch

Huge Member
Folks,

Just thought I'd list the mods I've done to far to Blue the Velocity Blue BadSquatch.
  1. Oracle Fog Lights
  2. Ride shocks/coil overs
  3. Icon UCA's
  4. Icon mid-travel kit
  5. Ford Performance Steering Rack
  6. Foutz tie rod sleeves
  7. JKS max clearance kit (still on 35's, but the Ride on full soft at full lock stilll gave me a tiny rub. Besides 37's are planned for)
  8. transmission skid
  9. Read-diff skid
  10. Read shock mount skids
What planned in no particular order:
  1. Spare tire reenforcement
  2. New wheels and tires (37's and I hate spacers)
  3. Ditch lights
  4. MAYBE a winch
It's funny, looking at it it just looks like you're ordinary BadSquatch that rilled off the assembly line. You have to look close, like underneath, to really see what's going on. This Bronco is being built for a purpose, than it's not as a pavement princess.

The "sleeper" look is the best look! When it looks like a factory rig but all the good bits that make it more capable are where they belong: under the hood or undercarriage, rather than bolted to the side of the rig so everybody at the mall knows you're an overlander :)

Do your homework when shopping for your spare tire reinforcement equipment. The ones that are just a steel plate that bolts to the outside of the tailgate are as useless as mammaries on a boar. Much better are the ones that replace the factory tailgate hinges with beefier ones that are integrated with the reinforcement. Turn Off-Road, RTR and a few others are like that, and I've heard you can get the stronger Bronco Raptor hinges from Ford Performance. Better than those options would be a spare tire carrier that is fully integrated into the bumper and removes the weight of the spare tire from the tailgate hinges (and therefore the body tub) entirely. There are a couple of options like that on the market. I'm currently in the process of installing the one from Turn Off-Road (bumper with integrated spare tire swing). It seems well made but I'm working through some installation issues so I'll reserve my judgement on it until I'm done sorting it all out.

Thanks Dusty. I'm defiantly interested in the bumper integrated tire carrier. If for no other than than I think that Bronco's should have a swing out tire carrier. :) Anyway, I'll be following your progress on that. In the meantime, I've been doing a bit of research and ran across one from Smitty Built that looks good if Iyou want to stick with the "regular" kind of installation.
