BBBB XXIII (2024) - Saturday medium run - The Squeeze to Upper Holcomb

Hey Everyone,
It looks like there aren't many trail leaders at the bash this year, so I'm going lead one for our group. I will be posting everything on my club FB page 4xMore Offroad because it’s easier for me to manage. So please sign up there and check that event page for the most up to date information.

I have never ran this trail, but I hear it's a fun one! I'm going to limit this one to 20 broncos. This one should be short, and if we finish early I plan on running upper Holcomb with everyone. I'm going to rate this one a 5-6 out of 10 overall.

As always please be prepared with the following:
Radio with Channel 6 GMRS
GPS Reader of some type (we'll communicate files in GPX)
1 full size spare
Water & Food
Basic tools and recovery gear

Cheers,

AJ

That's the direction we ran it last year, and it's a little easier than it's 5 rating if you go that way, probably more like a 4. The obstacles are allmost all downhill, so with careful tire placement it's a bit easier. I really love this trail, and I wish I could join you on this one! It's a fun trail, and the views are really nice. If you want to see some of what you're in for, here's the video I shot. Sorry about the quality and the editing, it was done with my old GoPro and before I learned how to edit with iMovie a bit better.

Here, here! Looking forward to it. I meant to go on this one last year and I was late and I chased down and caught up to the wrong group and ended up trying to do Holcomb Creek and it was so washed out that I watched Jeeps and Broncos on 40s rotate and bounce but not go forward. Three broke axles, and with it getting late and a three hour wait for those ahead I turned back at the second boulder field on banged through the first boulder field back out.

I suspect this one will be much easier... And I replaced the cheaper sliders I had at the time, they were bent by the time I got out but the Bronco was fine.

Yes, put me on the list I would like to go

I think a bRaptor would be REALLY tight. My Badlands just fits. Here's a video from last years run there that I led. Sorry for the video quality, I've upped my video editing game a bit since then.

We got @Chris at Lobo Off-Road's Bronco through the squeeze last Friday. I believe that with his long-travel kit his tires are as wide as a Bronco Raptor. Note that the body dimensions (excluding fenders) are the same as a regular Bronco.

did you happen to get any video of that?
I was spotting so know but I have reached out to the others with me that day to see what we have. I can tell you this, it was tight within an inch or 2 so pay attention to you spotter

@tom b is exactly right, it's tight no matter what vehicle, and trusting and following your spotter's directions is critical. You just can't see how close you really are, even with the 360 cameras on the Gen 6's. We had a full sized Bronco try and get through there last year and, well, let's just say that there was some body damage. the video is painful to watch.

Any more room on this run? First time up and very interested in joining others that are experienced. Thanks.
